My Bio

I love bracket shooting or now referred as to HDR (High Dynamic Range). Thanks to the new dawn of the Digital Age, shooting in HDR allows me to add finite detail that one would not ordinarily see regardless of lighting conditions with enhanced detail, high contrast, exaggerated color and shadows with extreme image depth resulting images that seem more rendered than a photo. I shoot anywhere from 3 to 12 images all different exposures and then its post processing magic time back at the studio.

I was born and grew up in the midwest in the good old Land of Lincoln. Where in the fourth grade I learned to ski at the local ski jump, yes a ski jump in Illinois which happened to be right next to our house for a few years then later we moved across town which gave me a three mile hike to get there and of course to tired to walk home by night fall so one of the parents would come pick us up to take us all home. That led to 16 years of competition, coaching and teaching down hill which kept me busy during the winter. Summers were full of water skiing which led to operating a ski school teaching beginning, slalom and barefoot and challenging the pros when they came to town. But I had a day job of building custom homes for 28 years and never turned pro.

Photography and the Arts have always been a passion for me but I loved building and creating new things as well but in 1999 with parents having declining health was compelled to get out of building and follow the promptings to pursue my passion of photography. Moving West, first to Arizona for 8 years and presently Utah for the past 2 years, is like a child in a candy store for me, complete Photo Mecca from landscapes and events to sports. I can say since moving here I havent worked a day, as when your emerged in something you truly love, the word work escapes its normal meaning.

My Art is all absorbing in which my cameras are always with me or at least close at hand. They are an extension of me; a state of mind if you will. As I shoot I capture thought in an image form, its what I do best .... Its what I do!
